Adolescence is a season of profound change where a young person moves through a landscape of shifting emotions and new social pressures. When a teenager begins to struggle with the weight of academic expectations or the quiet pull of anxiety, finding the right support is a vital step toward long term well being. Gretchen provides a compassionate and grounded space for adolescents and young adults to explore these complexities and build the internal resilience they need to flourish.

Supporting Your Teen through Modern Challenges

Many families reach out when they notice a shift in their child’s behavior, perhaps a sudden withdrawal or an overwhelming sense of stress that disrupts daily life. Gretchen specializes in guiding teenagers through the difficulties that most often affect the families of the Conejo Valley:
  • Anxiety and persistent stress management
  • Depression and the navigation of mood changes
  • Social pressures and peer relationship dynamics
  • Identity development and building self esteem

Two Paths to Growth and Resilience

Gretchen understands that every adolescent is unique, which is why she offers two distinct therapeutic environments to meet their specific needs.

Adolescent Psychotherapy

This traditional approach focuses on building a strong rapport and using evidence based techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy to help teens understand the connection between their thoughts and their actions. It is a collaborative process designed to give young people the tools they need to manage the pressures of school and social life. Learn more here. (Link)

Equine Assisted Therapy

For teens who may feel restricted by a traditional office setting, equine therapy provides a powerful experiential alternative. By working with horses in a natural environment, adolescents learn to regulate their nervous systems and develop deep confidence and clear boundaries. Learn more here. (Link)
